![]() Gracefully dodging and countering is key to combat, but this ultimately feels pointless when Cheshire is such an indestructible force of nature in the heat of combat. It's game over if Cereza's health plummets to zero, but if Cheshire takes a hit too many he merely reverts back to his stuffed toy form, shackled there for a few moments while his health regenerates. The flipside of Cheshire being the muscle is that he's also largely expendable. Bayonetta Origins is all about Cereza overcoming her personal fear and vulnerability, and combat fails to live up to this narrative promise by having Cereza constantly incapable of holding her own against any foes whatsoever. Cereza is restricted to immobilizing foes, and can't outright kill them, so without Cheshire in your corner, the young witch is a tad helpless. Just look at Babylon's Fall and Scalebounds gameplay and tell me their design isn't similar to Bayos i.e companies' interest for such a game came around.Īll that said Bayo games would have been on a stalemate without Nintendo but unfortunately price for that was games being available only for Nintendo console owners. This is really Bayonetta Origins' true Achilles Heel in combat – Cereza is the brains, and Cheshire is the brawn. I am certain Bayo 2 would have happened even if Nintendo also rejected Platinum. Which is a good business decision but it's funny how that decision erased Bayo games from other platforms and back then people talked about it as if everyone (PS, Xbox, PC and Wii) should be grateful for Nintendo funding Bayo 2 otherwise it would never have happened. I think they choose to nail down Bayo to Nintendo's platform because they were impatient of waiting for the opportunity to release it under a other company. You think they specifically chose to release on the WiiU over other options? I'm not saying they would've disappeared, they did plenty of other work (a lot of it being licensed games) but Bayonetta could've easily just been that one game from 2008. You really think Platinum would not pitch the idea of Bayo 2 again to a different company than Nintendo and Sega, later down the road, if Nintendo also rejected the offer? You know they would and Bayo 2 and other games would then be available for most platforms. Fast forward to a certain point in time and Microsoft and other companies hired Platinum to make games for them (Scalebound, Ninja Turtles, Babylon's fall). But to say it never would have been is bs. I know they pitched idea to Sega and they didn't want to. It literally wouldn't have though? Think about how long it was between bayo 1 and 2, you think they never pitched a sequel to Sega or other console publishers? /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
